FRANCE AIMEE (PART OF)(POSSIBLY) - Cornwall & Devon

The *France Aimee* offers a fascinating shallow wreck dive, a real slice of maritime history just off the Cornish coast. We love this site for its accessibility and the way the sea has reclaimed it. This steamship went down after a collision in 1918, and though she’s broken up, the remaining sections provide plenty to explore. At a consistent 11 metres, it’s a comfortable dive, perfect for extended bottom times. You’ll weave through ribs and plates, finding lobsters tucked into every crevice and plumose anemones waving like miniature feather dusters from the darker corners. On a good day, with decent visibility, the sunlight filters through the water, illuminating the iron structure and the schools of pollack that dart amongst the wreckage. We’d suggest timing your dive for slack water; the currents here can pick up, making the experience less enjoyable. It’s a rewarding dive for those who appreciate history and enjoy poking around a well-established artificial reef.
