GIRL RONA - Cornwall & Devon

The Girl Rona, a former fishing vessel, sits upright on the seabed at 57 metres. Dropping down, you start to make out the shape of her wheelhouse, surprisingly intact, often swarming with pollack. She's a smaller wreck, only 15.2 metres long, making for a concentrated dive where you can really spend time exploring the details. We love the way the light filters down, creating an eerie glow around the deck, illuminating the resident conger eels peeking out from every nook and cranny. This site is definitely for experienced wreck divers comfortable with depth. The conditions can be challenging, but on a good day, when the visibility stretches to 10 metres, she’s a truly engaging dive. Look for the trawl gear scattered around the stern, now heavily encrusted with plumose anemones, their white tentacles swaying gently in the current. Our favourite detail? The tiny cracks in the steel, home to nimble blennies and colourful jewel anemones. It’s a proper deep dive, a quiet exploration of a working boat now resting in the cold Atlantic.
