GIRL SHARON - Cornwall & Devon

The Girl Sharon wreck is more of a friendly encounter than a deep exploration, and we absolutely love it for that. She’s a small fishing vessel, only 9.1m, and she sits upright on the seabed at a comfortable 11m. This means you get excellent bottom time, perfect for really soaking in the atmosphere. You can fin right around her, peek into the small wheelhouse, and imagine her last days adrift from Hayling Island. What truly makes Girl Sharon sing, though, is the life that’s claimed her. Even without a species list, we’ve seen her decks swarming with juvenile pollock, their silver flashes catching the light. Crabs scuttle in the nooks, and we’ve often spotted dogfish resting quietly in the sand nearby. It’s a gentle dive, ideal for newer wreck divers or those wanting a relaxed dive with plenty to observe. We always check the tides for slack water, as even a mild current can make navigating her small frame a bit fiddly. It’s not about penetration; it’s about the intimacy of a small wreck becoming a vibrant, miniature ecosystem.
