With 176+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue sharks, dolphins, dwarf minke whales, humpback whales and ocean sunfish (mola mola) - Helford River offers some of Cornwall & Devon's richest diving. Water ranges 10-18°C, warmest July, August, September.
The Helford River offers a sheltered dive, mostly a gentle slope across silty bottoms. We've often found interesting macro life here, nudibranchs and small crabs tucked into the debris. Visibility can be hit or miss, usually better on an incoming tide. It's a decent spot for calm exploration, particularly if you're keen on finding the smaller stuff without strong currents.
