With 176+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue sharks, dolphins, dwarf minke whales, humpback whales and ocean sunfish (mola mola) - IONA offers some of Cornwall & Devon's richest wreck diving. Water ranges 10-18°C, warmest July, August, September.
The IONA, a yacht wreck off the Cornish coast, makes for a solid, accessible dive. We like dropping in on a slack tide, drifting over the main hull structure. It’s not a massive wreck, but the skeletal remains are now home to plenty of wrasse and blennies, darting between the frames. You'll often find a decent-sized pollack lurking, watching you from the deeper sections. It's a dive that rewards a slow pace, letting you really appreciate how the ocean reclaims its own.
