JAC FISHER - Cornwall & Devon

The Jac Fisher isn't about grand scale, it's about charm and a surprising amount of life for such a small wreck. This ex-ship’s lifeboat, an aluminium hull now resting at just 8 metres, is an ideal second dive or a fantastic spot for newer wreck divers to get comfortable. We love drifting around its compact structure, noting how the aluminium has held up, providing a unique texture for the anemones and dead man’s fingers that cling to every surface. You’ll find plenty of wrasse darting in and out, and if you’ve got a keen eye, look for the smaller blennies tucked into the nooks. Because it’s so shallow, the ambient light is excellent, illuminating the vibrant colours of the soft corals. Our favourite approach is a slow circumnavigation, really taking in the detail and the way the light plays on the metal. It’s a gentle dive, perfect for honing buoyancy and enjoying the macro life without the pressure of depth or strong currents. Just keep an eye on the tides for the best visibility.
