KAZAN - Cornwall & Devon
The Kazan, a small sailing vessel that met its end on the rocks in 2001, sits in surprisingly shallow water near the shore. We're talking 1m. You can almost wade out to it, but a short snorkel reveals the 11.9m wreck, broken but recognisable. It's a great spot for a relaxed shallow dive or even just a snorkel, especially if you're keen to practise your navigation around wreckage without deep-water pressure. Barnacles and mussels have claimed the timbers, and small blennies dart in and out of the cracks. It's not a grand wreck, but it's a piece of local maritime history you can easily get up close with.
