LE VIEUX TIGRE - Cornwall & Devon

Le Vieux Tigre, off the coast of Cornwall, is one of those wrecks we return to again and again. It’s not about depth here, at a maximum of 7m, this old trawler is all about the atmosphere and the details. Sunk in 1935, she's broken up quite a bit, but the bow and stern sections are still distinct. We love weaving through the skeletal ribs, feeling the gentle tug of the surge as dogfish dart into shadowed crevices. This site really comes alive when the sun is out. Shafts of light pierce the emerald water, illuminating the vibrant jewel anemones that coat every surface. Look closely, and you'll spot blennies peeking from holes and crabs scuttling amongst the plates. The boiler, a huge cylindrical presence, is our favourite spot for lingering; it’s a magnet for small schooling fish. It's an easy dive, perfect for newer divers building confidence around wrecks, or for photographers looking to capture the interplay of light and decay. We’d suggest timing your dive for slack water on a calm day for the best visibility.
