With 176+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue sharks, dolphins, dwarf minke whales, humpback whales and ocean sunfish (mola mola) - LUIS offers some of Cornwall & Devon's richest wreck diving. Water ranges 10-18°C, warmest July, August, September.
The LUIS wreck, a substantial steamship resting at 14 metres, offers a decent dive for those exploring Cornwall's coastal history. Sunk in 1918, she’s become a home for local marine life. You'll find her two boilers still prominent, and the triple-expansion engine provides some interesting swim-throughs if you're comfortable with overhead environments. Look for schools of juvenile pollack darting through the superstructure and the occasional conger eel peeking from a dark corner. It’s a solid wreck dive without being overly challenging, good for advanced open water divers keen on a bit of exploration.
