LYNX EFFECT - Cornwall & Devon

We often hear about the big, deep wrecks in the UK, but sometimes the best finds are the ones right on our doorstep, accessible and full of character. The Lynx Effect is exactly that, a launch vessel sitting in a friendly 7 metres, practically begging for exploration. You’ll spend your dive poking around the remains of the hull, spotting the nooks and crannies where wrasse and blennies have made themselves at home. It’s a brilliant site for newer divers looking to get their first taste of a wreck or for photographers wanting to capture the light filtering down onto the rusted metal. What we love about the Lynx Effect is how quickly nature reclaims these wrecks. Even at this shallow depth, the metalwork is draped in dead man's fingers and anemones. Look closely and you'll often find crabs scuttling over the plates or a curious dogfish peeking out from under a bulkhead. The visibility here can vary, as it often does in UK waters, but on a good day, with the sun breaking through, the wreck feels almost luminous. Our top tip? Dive it on a calm, sunny day just after high tide for the best conditions and light. It’s not about penetration or huge scale; it's about the small details and the life that thrives on this piece of history.
