M J C - Cornwall & Devon

Dropping onto the M J C, you’re met with the ghostly outline of a wooden vivier trawler, a vessel that came to rest quickly after a rough wave in 1989. She’s not a massive wreck, around 15 metres, but her wooden hull means a different sort of exploration from the usual metal hulks we find. We like picking through the remains, seeing how the structure is slowly giving way to the sea. Shoals of bib often hang around the more intact sections, and you’ll find plenty of crabs and lobsters tucked into any available crevice. It’s a good choice for divers who appreciate the quieter side of wreck diving, perhaps those looking for something a bit more intimate than a giant freighter.
