RILL COVE - Cornwall & Devon
Rill Cove offers a glimpse into Cornwall's shipping history, though you need a bit of luck to truly see it. This protected wreck, a Spanish cargo vessel, sits at a shallow 9m and is often partially covered by shifting sands. When the sand moves, you can pick out sections of wreckage, scattered artefacts, and the odd encrusted plate. It's a site for divers who appreciate the subtle details of a historical wreck, rather than a towering hulk. We've found conger eels tucked into the larger pieces and plenty of colourful jewel anemones clinging to any exposed metal. With its shallow depth, it's a calm dive, perfect for a relaxed exploration when conditions are right.
