SAINT SIMEON - Cornwall & Devon
The Saint Simeon isn't just another wreck; it's a deep dive into a proper ghost ship, sitting bolt upright at 57 metres. We absolutely love the eerie stillness down here, far removed from the surface chop. This trawler went down in rough weather in '85, and you can almost feel the chaos that led to her crew abandoning her. What you'll find is a well-preserved steel hull, remarkably intact for a wreck of its age and depth. We often spend our bottom time exploring the wheelhouse structure, keeping an eye out for conger eels peering from dark corners. Ling and cod are regular residents, often found lurking in the deeper holds, and the whole structure is covered in colourful jewel anemones, adding flashes of orange and pink to the otherwise monochromatic depths. It’s a challenging dive, obviously, best suited for experienced technical divers comfortable with deco obligations. Our top tip: aim for a day with minimal surface swell, it makes the long ascent a lot more bearable.
