Why dive here
With 176+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue sharks, dolphins, dwarf minke whales, humpback whales and ocean sunfish (mola mola) - ST ANTHONY (POSSIBLY) offers some of Cornwall & Devon's richest wreck diving. Water ranges 10-18°C, warmest July, August, September.
Alright, so the St Anthony, or what we strongly suspect is the St Anthony, is a dive for those who truly appreciate a bit of history beneath the waves. This isn't a deep dive, barely a splash at a maximum of one meter, which means it’s perfect for a relaxed snorkel or even just a very shallow free-dive when the conditions are calm. You’re looking at the remnants of an ancient military vessel, driven ashore by a storm way back in 1526, and what you see today is largely spread out, hinting at its past while now providing a home for various crabs and small fish that dart between the timbers. It’s a fascinating site for its story alone, a tangible link to a turbulent past rather than a grand, intact wreck.
