TAKU - Cornwall & Devon
The Taku, a yacht that went down after a run-in with the schooner Albatross back in ‘76, sits upright on the seabed at 34 metres. We’ve found her to be a pretty straightforward dive for those comfortable with deeper wrecks, often with decent visibility when the conditions are right. You can swim through parts of the superstructure, poking around cabins where lobsters now peer out, and the hull is covered in plumose anemones, creating a soft, colourful carpet. It’s a compelling piece of local history, home to a surprising number of wrasse and blennies darting amongst the wreckage.
