    StandoutExceptional marine biodiversity

The UB1195, a First World War German submarine, sits upright and largely intact in just 9 metres of water off the Lizard. We love a historical wreck you can actually get a sense of, and this one delivers. Dropping onto the conning tower, you can still make out the periscope housings and the deck gun mount. There’s a wonderful eeriness to swimming along the deck, imagining the crew on watch a century ago. Keep an eye out for the resident wrasse and pollock that dart in and out of the torpedo tubes. It's a proper wreck dive, even if it's shallow, and offers fantastic photographic opportunities on a sunny day. We'd suggest aiming for slack water to really appreciate the structure without fighting the current. It’s perfect for divers who appreciate history and don't need a huge depth to feel like they’ve explored something significant.
