YVETTE BM217 - Cornwall & Devon

The Yvette BM217 isn't about deep dives or big pelagics. This is a shallow, spread-out wreck, making it a brilliant spot for newer divers looking to get some wreck experience without the nitrogen narcosis. We often find ourselves just ghosting over the scattered pieces, imagining the trawler hitting Langerstone Point back in '78. You’ll see the stern section still relatively intact, a nice dark void to peer into, often with a couple of pollack hanging out. The real joy here is the way the rocky seabed has just swallowed bits of the wreck. Plates of metal are fused with the rock, home to velvet swimming crabs and anemones swaying gently in the surge. It’s a site where you really notice the smaller stuff – nudibranchs munching away on hydroids, blennies darting into cracks. Visibility can be a bit of a lottery, as it often is in the UK, but on a good day, with a bit of sunlight filtering through, it’s just lovely. We love it as a second dive when you want something relaxed and full of small discoveries.
