Nicola Faith - Northumberland & Northeast

The Nicola Faith is one of those wrecks that just hits different. It’s not deep, sitting in a flat 9 metres, which means you get proper bottom time to really soak it in. This was a fishing vessel, and you can still feel that working boat vibe, even with the damage. We love how it’s broken up, but not so much that it’s just rubble; there are still distinct sections, little nooks and crannies to poke your head into. Visibility here can be a bit of a lottery, like a lot of the UK coast, but when it’s good, it’s really good. You get the sun shafts cutting through the green water, illuminating the kelp that’s taken hold on the superstructure. Our favourite is exploring the wheelhouse area, where you can often spot large wrasse peeking out from behind rusted metal, or even a grumpy-looking conger eel tucked away. It’s an ideal dive for newer wreck enthusiasts, or anyone who just wants a relaxed dive with a bit of history to it. Just be mindful of fishing line, it’s still an active fishing area.
