REA 1 - Northumberland & Northeast

REA 1 is a sturdy barge, scuttled by the Mersey Docks and Harbour Board. Down at 37 metres, it’s a dive for those comfortable with deeper water and the chill of the North Sea. The wreck itself isn't massive, but it offers interesting penetration points into holds and a chance to truly explore an intact vessel. Look for the wolf fish that often hang out in the shadowy nooks, and the colourful jewel anemones that carpet the metal. It’s a good choice for divers who appreciate the history of a wreck and the resilient marine life that makes it home.
