RENOWN - Northumberland & Northeast

The Renown, just off the Northumberland coast, is one of those wrecks that really sticks with you. You’re not going deep here, a consistent 5m, making it ideal for longer bottom times and a proper look around. We love how the shallow depth and sheltered position often make for surprisingly good visibility, especially on a calm day. It's a really broken-up site, but that’s its charm. Instead of an intact vessel, you’re navigating a fascinating debris field of twisted metal, boilers, and plates, all softened by decades of growth. Look closely, and you'll spot some seriously chunky lobsters tucked into every crevice, plus wrasse darting between the kelp fronds. For photographers, the way the ambient light plays across the wreckage is fantastic. We’d suggest going at slack water, on an incoming tide if you can, to get the best of the light and the visibility. It's a proper British wreck dive, full of character and surprisingly vibrant.
