Sleeping Shark Cave
Protected Area
Costa Occ. de I. Mujeres, Pta. Cancún y Pta. Nizuc
Why dive here
With 177+ marine species recorded in the area - including barracuda, bull sharks, dolphins, eagle rays and nurse sharks - Sleeping Shark Cave offers some of Cozumel's richest cave diving. Water ranges 27-30°C, warmest August, September, October.
Sleeping Shark Cave, despite the name, isn’t really a cave and sharks aren't always in residence. It's more of an overhang, a good spot to duck out of the current for a moment. You might find a nurse shark or two tucked away, but it's not a guarantee. We'd suggest this site for intermediate divers who want a relaxed drift and an easy swim-through.
