LYRA - Sharm el-Sheikh

The Lyra wreck sits in Sharm el-Sheikh’s harbour, a surprisingly accessible piece of history. We’ve found it’s a good spot for a quick dip, especially if you’re looking for something different than the usual reef dives. The Lyra, a small cargo ship sunk in 1958, is largely intact and the shallow depth means long bottom times. You can explore the deck and superstructure, which are now home to plenty of damselfish and small groups of snapper. It’s not a deep, dramatic wreck, but we like it for its relaxed pace and the way the light filters through the structure.
