RALA I - Sharm el-Sheikh

We love a good shallow wreck, and RALA I delivers if you’re looking for a relaxed dive with interesting structure. Lying just off the coastline, this isn’t a grand freighter, but rather a smaller, more intimate wreck – perfect for exploring every nook without feeling rushed. You’ll spend your time investigating the twisted metal, the hull largely intact, and the deck structures providing plenty of overhead environments to peek into. We've seen schools of juvenile yellowfin barracuda darting through the openings, and resident lionfish often lurk in the shadowed corners. It’s an ideal site for macro photographers, with nudibranchs and flatworms frequently spotted on the encrusted surfaces. The wreck itself has become a canvas of soft corals, a surprisingly colourful contrast to the rusted steel. For photographers, we’d suggest an early morning dive before the sun gets too high, as the light filtering through the shallow water can create some dramatic shots. Visibility here is usually excellent, making it a comfortable dive for anyone who enjoys spending time really getting to know a single site rather than cruising past quickly. It’s also a great option for a second dive of the day, or even a night dive if your centre offers it – the nocturnal critters love this place.
