Ras Umm Sid - Sharm el-Sheikh

Ras Umm Sid is a solid shore dive, easy to get to from Sharm. We often drop in here when we want a relaxed afternoon in the water without a boat trip. The reef slopes gently, then drops off more dramatically further out, which is where you’ll find the larger groupers like the Halfspotted Hind lurking in the shadows. Look for the resident clown surgeonfish around the shallower corals. It’s a reliable spot for spotting pipefish and blennies if you take your time, and we’ve even been lucky enough to see a smooth-fin blenny on a calm day. Good for a couple of tanks, especially for photographers who like to hunt for macro subjects.
