HASSANEIN - Port Sudan & Sanganeb

Hassanein is one of those wrecks that really sticks with you. She’s a carrier vessel, not a huge one at 56 metres, but with a real sense of history. We love the way she’s settled upright on the sand at 22 metres. You can still make out her original shape, built in Germany back in ‘55, which is quite something. Diving Hassanein feels like stepping into a time capsule. The engine room is surprisingly accessible, and we always spend a good chunk of our bottom time exploring the nooks and crannies there. Keep an eye out for the resident groupers, they’re big and not shy. Our favourite part is the bridge area; it’s collapsed a bit, but there are some lovely soft corals growing, attracting schools of glassfish that shimmer in the ambient light. This wreck is perfect for divers who appreciate a good historical story and enjoy a relaxed, detailed exploration rather than a deep, fast current dive. It’s also pretty sheltered, so it’s often a good option if the weather’s a bit choppy elsewhere.
