KIYOH MARU - Fujairah

The Kiyoh Maru in Fujairah isn't one of those big, deep wrecks that tests your deco limits. And honestly, we love it for that. This old tanker, scuttled after a fire back in '75, now rests in a shallow 10 metres. It's a proper playground, especially for anyone who loves spending serious time exploring without worrying about air consumption. You can spend a good chunk of an hour, even longer, poking around the bow and stern sections, which are still surprisingly intact. There are swim-throughs into the cargo holds, easy enough for beginners, where sunlight dapples through openings, illuminating schools of snapper. Look out for moray eels tucked into the darker crevices and we’ve often spotted eagle rays cruising past the main deck structure. The superstructure is pretty broken up, but you can still make out the bridge area. We’d suggest going in the late morning, after any initial dive boats have left, and when the sun is high for the best light penetration into the wreck. It’s a completely different vibe than the deeper Gulf wrecks, a genuinely relaxed experience.
