MEHRAN 77 - Fujairah

The Mehran 77 is still a relative newcomer to Fujairah’s wreck scene, intentionally sunk in early 2020. At only 14 metres, it’s an easy run for nearly all divers, and while it’s classified as a ‘dangerous wreck’ due to its newness, we’ve found it’s mostly just an invitation for careful exploration. This 38.7-meter supply vessel sits upright, offering a fantastic opportunity to peek into the bridge, accommodation blocks, and the open cargo holds. Inside, the light filters through surprisingly large openings, illuminating the initial coral growth and the nervous schools of snapper already calling it home. Our favourite part has to be the deck machinery, now a convenient perch for lionfish and moray eels. We’d suggest going in the morning; the visibility tends to be better before the afternoon boat traffic kicks up the sand, and the early light really makes the wreck pop. It’s a great site for newer wreck divers looking to get a feel for penetration without serious overhead environments, and for photographers, the intact structure provides plenty of interesting angles.
