NASTARAN - Fujairah

NASTARAN is a true standout in Fujairah, a genuinely atmospheric wreck dive. We love this site for its character; it’s not just a big metal tube on the seabed. This 60-meter landing craft, sunk way back in 1970, lies mostly upright at a comfortable 20 meters, making it accessible for most divers. You can really get a sense of its history here, imagining cargo being loaded and unloaded, now a skeletal home for so much life. Swim into the open cargo hold, and the light shifts dramatically, the hull plates above creating a spooky, cathedral-like gloom. Schools of yellowfin trevally often swirl inside, catching the shafts of light that pierce the deck openings. Around the superstructure, we’ve found robust lionfish hovering, and the occasional turtle glides past, oblivious to the sunken history below. It’s an engaging dive for anyone who enjoys wreck penetration, though we always suggest good buoyancy control here to avoid stirring up the fine silt. Keep an eye out for the resident moray eels peeking from crevices – they’re almost always around.
