PACIFIC AQUARIUS - Fujairah

The Pacific Aquarius wreck in Fujairah is a proper old-school dive, one we really enjoy for its history and just how much it feels like a genuine artificial reef. This barge went down in 1979 during a tow from Das Island, capsizing in rough weather. It lies in about 20 metres of water, perfectly upright, and despite being a relatively small vessel at 33.5m long, there’s plenty to explore around its structure. We love dropping down onto the Aquarius and seeing how time has smoothed its edges. The hull is now absolutely coated in soft corals and sponges, giving it a real shaggy look. Our favourite part is peering into the open holds; you often find schools of snapper and fusiliers swirling inside, almost blocking out the light. Look closely at the deck, too, as moray eels are often tucked into crevices, their heads poking out with that characteristic inquisitive stare. The visibility here can vary, but on a good day, the light plays beautifully through the water, illuminating the wreck in a green-blue glow. It’s a comfortable dive for anyone with a bit of wreck experience, without any tricky currents or penetrations.
