Casco NN - Mar del Plata
Casco NN, right off Mar del Plata, is one of those sites we always make time for. It’s a shallow dive, just five metres, but don’t let that fool you into thinking it's simple. This isn’t some artificial reef, it’s a genuine piece of history, and you can feel it. The wreck itself is pretty broken up, scattered across the seabed, which means you’re not just swimming over a single hull. Instead, you're navigating through a maze of twisted metal plates, exposed ribs, and scattered debris. We love how the light plays on the fragmented pieces, especially on a sunny day. It filters through the surface, illuminating schools of silversides that flicker around the metal, darting in and out of every crevice. You’ll spot crabs scuttling over the rust, hiding in nooks and crannies. Honestly, it feels like an archaeological dig, an open-air museum where you’re the explorer. We'd suggest going in the morning; the water tends to be calmer, and you get better visibility before any afternoon chop picks up. While it’s technically a wreck, the shallow depth and dispersed nature make it a great spot for newer divers looking for something a bit more interesting than just a reef, or for experienced eyes who appreciate the small details.
