Naufragio Nebula - Abrolhos

Raggedy Cay is a bit of a trek, sitting off the west end of Utila, but it’s one of those dives that sticks with you. You drop onto a sandy flat around six meters, usually with a good number of needlefish hanging out just under the surface. From there, you navigate a short distance to the wall itself, which then drops gradually into deeper blue. We’ve found the mooring can be a fair distance from the actual wall, which adds a little extra swim time, but it’s worth it. Our favourite part about Raggedy is the sheer number of green morays we’ve encountered. They seem to love the nooks and crannies along the wall. We’ve also had some fantastic sightings of nurse sharks cruising by, and if you’re lucky, you might even spot a green turtle lazily finning its way along the reef edge. Keep an eye out for the smaller stuff too; Hourglass clingfish and Island Frillfin are often tucked into the sponges. This dive suits those who appreciate a relaxed wall dive with a good chance of seeing some larger reef residents, and are happy with a bit of a swim to get to the main event. It’s also a good spot to try your hand at lionfish hunting, if that’s your thing.
