ISLA SAN GALLAN 5 - Lima & Palomino Islands

Isla San Gallan 5 isn't about depth or vibrant corals. This site is pure history, a shallow wreck dive that just keeps giving. The old fishing vessel, grounded back in '76, now lies broken in three main sections, all within three metres of the surface. It’s perfect for extended bottom times, easy to navigate, and a real treat for photographers who love playing with natural light. We love poking around the bow section; the light shafts through the gaps in the hull are quite dramatic. You’ll spot blennies and small crabs tucked into every crevice, and sometimes a curious sea lion will dart past, a blur of silver and whiskers. It's a surprisingly busy wreck, not with divers, but with fish. Schools of silversides shimmer around the decaying metal, attracting bigger predators, though we’ve mostly seen larger jack mackerel here. Visibility can swing a bit, but usually, it’s clear enough to appreciate the scale of the wreck against the sandy seabed. Our pick for a calm, historical dive where you can truly take your time.
