LOMITAS II - Lima & Palomino Islands

Lomitas II might only be 8 metres deep, but it punches above its weight. It's a small tug vessel, not a vast cargo ship, which means you can really get to know it in one dive. We love that you can spend your entire bottom time just circling the wreck, spotting the details. The structure is pretty broken up in places, giving it a ghost-ship feel, but the engine room remains surprisingly intact. Peering inside, you’ll often find sculpin tucked into crevices and small blennies darting between the decaying machinery. This site is perfect for photographers who want to spend time getting close-up shots without worrying about depth limits. Look for the massive anemones clustered on the bow, their tentacles gently swaying with the surge. Our favourite time to dive Lomitas II is in the morning, before the boat traffic picks up and the light filters down beautifully through the shallow water.
