Bali Aqua Diving - Bali

We’ve always had a soft spot for Bali Aqua, especially when the conditions line up just right. It’s a drift dive, usually, so you’ll want to be comfortable moving with the current. We’ve found the best approach is to let go and enjoy the ride, keeping an eye out for the smaller stuff that might otherwise get missed. The reef here is a bit of a mixed bag, with some areas showing signs of past damage, but there’s still plenty of life if you know where to look. We often spot schools of crescent grunter hanging around the deeper sections, and if you’re lucky, a pelagic thresher might cruise by in the blue – a real thrill when it happens. Our favourite moments are often spent in the shallows, where the light plays beautifully on the soft corals and you can spend ages watching the orange-axil wrasse flitting between the anemones. We’ve even seen the rare eroded cowry tucked away in crevices here. It’s a dive that rewards patience and a keen eye, less about huge pelagics (though they do show up) and more about the intricate details. You'll probably see paradise whiptails and black-barred razorfish darting through the sand patches. It’s a good pick for intermediate divers who appreciate a relaxed drift and enjoy hunting for macro life amongst the reef.
