Coral garden - Bali

Coral Garden in Bali is one of those sites that just feels good to dive, a mellow drift over a gently sloping reef. We love it for its sheer density of staghorn coral, it’s everywhere, creating endless hiding spots for all sorts of critters. Keep your eyes peeled for Cobb’s winged murphydoris nudibranchs inching across the coral branches, they’re a favourite of ours. The slanting afternoon light here really brings out the colours of the reef, making it our preferred time to drop in. It’s an easy dive, perfect for photographers wanting to take their time setting up shots or divers who just want to relax and watch the reef unfold. You’ll drift past bustling communities of pygmygobies, darting in and out of the coral, and if you’re lucky, spot a Gardiner’s headshield slug on the sand patches. We’ve found the currents here are usually gentle, a nice change of pace from some of Bali’s more energetic sites.
