Ise Baru - Bali

We love Ise Baru. It's a proper wreck dive, but shallow enough that you can spend ages just soaking it all in. This isn’t some purpose-sunk artificial reef. This is a real, historical fishing boat, maybe 20 metres long, that just… went down. It’s sitting upright on a sandy bottom, broken in a few places, but largely intact. You can fin right into the wheelhouse, imagine the old steering wheel, or peek into the engine room. It feels like stepping back in time, a silent ghost ship. The boat itself has become a home. We’ve seen clouds of glassfish shimmer in the holds, and a couple of moray eels have made the nooks and crannies their permanent address. Keep an eye out for nudibranchs, too. They love the encrusting corals that are slowly reclaiming the hull. Visibility here can be a bit variable, especially if there's been some rain, but even on an average day, the atmosphere is just fantastic. Go early in the morning for the best light, it really highlights the wreck's silhouette. It's a gentle dive, perfect for photographers or anyone who just wants to explore a piece of history.
