KM. KTC-1 - Bali

The KM. KTC-1, just a few fin kicks from shore in Bali, is one of those spots we find ourselves revisiting again and again. It’s a shallow wreck, sitting upright in maybe four metres of water, perfect for a long, relaxed dive or even a snorkel if you’re keen. We love how accessible it is, and despite the "dangerous wreck" classification you sometimes see, it's really just a good old fishing boat, well-broken up and covered in critters. You'll spend your time here exploring the remains of the wheelhouse, seeing glassfish shimmer inside the open holds, and watching moray eels poke their heads from every nook and cranny. The sunlight filtering down often makes the whole scene feel iridescent, especially when schools of damselfish flit through the superstructure. It's a proper macro playground too. Nudibranchs are everywhere, and we’ve spotted ghost pipefish blending in amongst the soft corals that have started to colonise the metal. Honestly, it’s a brilliant site for photographers, or anyone who just wants to potter about without worrying about depth or complex navigation. We often go in the early morning before the slight afternoon chop kicks up, and it's usually just us and a few local fishermen.
