LONG MARAK - Bali

Long Marak is one of those deeper Bali wrecks that just keeps giving. It's an old fishing boat, nothing grand like the Liberty, but its character comes from its position. Lying mostly intact on a sandy slope, starting around 30 metres and dropping to 54, it’s a beautiful, eerie dive. We love that you can still feel the boat’s working history down there, the winches and deck machinery, now draped in soft corals. The main draw here is the way the wreck has become a home. We’ve spotted robust ghost pipefish clinging to crinoids on the mast, and those big schools of yellowtail snapper often swirl around the bow. If you’re lucky, a passing tuna or trevally might dart through. For deeper divers, the stern section at 50 metres offers a real sense of exploration, though penetration isn't really an option due to its age and fragile state. Current can be a factor, so we always suggest diving this one on a calm day or slack tide to fully appreciate the details. It’s a site for those who appreciate the quiet history of the ocean, not just the flashy corals.
