Marta Dive - Bali

Marta Dive is one of those sites we’ll always make time for in Bali. It’s not flashy, not a drift dive, just a really solid reef with a ridiculous number of critters if you take it slow. We typically drop in, find a good patch of the staghorn, and just settle in for a long explore. The highlights here are always the smaller stuff. We’ve found Rosy Frogfish here more than once, tucked in amongst the branch coral, doing their best impression of a sponge. Keep an eye out for the Largemouth Triplefin darting around the rocks, and those tiny Stobbs’ Pygmygobies – they’re easy to miss but worth the close look. The Blotchfin Scorpionfish are usually chilling on the bottom, blending in perfectly, so good buoyancy is key if you don’t want to spook them. It’s a photographer’s dream if you’re into macro, or just a great place to hone your spotting skills. We love it for a relaxed second or third dive, letting you really soak in the details.
