MITRA SIONTAPINA - Bali

The Mitra Siontapina, an old motor vessel, sits upright in about 20 meters of water, and it's our favourite wreck in the area for a straightforward, rewarding dive. We love that it’s completely colonised by schooling fish, making it feel less like a graveyard and more like a living structure. You'll find yourself swimming through clouds of bannerfish and snapper, often so thick you can barely make out the bow. We always keep an eye out for the resident moray eels peeking from the holds, and the nudibranchs always seem to be putting on a show along the deck railings. What makes Mitra Siontapina special is its accessibility and the way it’s embraced its new role as a reef. Entry is usually calm, and with the wreck’s maximum depth, it’s a brilliant dive for divers who want to spend solid bottom time exploring without feeling rushed. We always recommend getting there a bit earlier in the morning; the light filters through the water beautifully, illuminating the upper deck and making the schools of fish sparkle. Just watch for occasional mild currents that can sweep over the deck, adding a bit of drift to your tour. It’s a genuinely engaging dive for anyone who appreciates the eerie beauty of a sunken ship transformed.
