NANTAI 1 - Bali

Nantai 1 is a wreck we always recommend for new wreck divers, or anyone who just wants a relaxed dive. She’s a carrier vessel, about 64 metres long, sitting upright and intact in just 10 metres of water. We love the way the light filters through the superstructure; you can see most of the wreck from the surface. You’ll find schools of yellow snapper hanging out in the cargo holds and plenty of lionfish tucked into shadowy corners. Look closely at the deck, especially around the winches, and you’ll spot nudibranchs, often some vibrant chromodoris. It’s an easy swim around the whole thing, often with minimal current, and you can even poke your head into a few of the more open compartments without feeling claustrophobic. Visibility is generally good here, usually around 15-20 metres, making it a great spot for photography. Our favourite time to dive Nantai 1 is mid-morning, just after the first rush of divers but before the midday sun gets too harsh.
