PADI Hammerhead Bali Dive - Bali

Hammerhead Bali Dive, now that's a name that gets divers talking. We’ve done our fair share of hunting for schooling hammerheads around the world, and while Bali isn’t the Galápagos, there are definitely pockets where the big pelagics cruise. This site is exactly that kind of pocket, but you need to know what you’re looking for. Forget the usual reef scene you find at some of Bali’s more popular spots. Here, it's all about keeping an eye on the blue, often in deeper water. We've had our best luck in the early mornings, dropping down and hovering, just waiting. The current can be fin-kicking, so you need to be comfortable in a drift and ready to work for it. When they do show, it’s usually a fleeting shadow, a brief glimpse of that unmistakable head shape, before they disappear back into the vastness. It's a real hit-or-miss affair, but that anticipation, that split second of seeing a One-finned Shark or even a Jimbaran Shovelnose Ray glide past, is exactly why we love it. This spot is for experienced divers who understand that a sighting isn't guaranteed, but the thrill of the chase is half the fun. You'll likely encounter a good mix of Jacks and Indian Mackerel as you drift, but the real prize here, the reason you endure the longer boat ride and the deeper profile, is the chance to lock eyes with a hammerhead. It's a game of patience and a test of your trim, but when it pays off, it’s a story you’ll be telling for years.
