Sea Garden - Bali

Sea Garden in Bali, just a short boat ride from Candidasa, feels like a warm hug. It’s one of those spots we love for a relaxed second or third dive of the day, especially after something more demanding. The name really does set the scene: it’s a gentle slope, maybe 5 to 18 meters, covered in the most vibrant soft corals. Think swaying fields of orange, pink, and purple, punctuated by big gorgonian fans. We often find ourselves drifting slowly here, spotting things like the tiny Shoulderspot Eviota darting amongst the coral polyps, or groups of Malayan Chromis dancing above the reef. Look closer, and you’ll likely see the juvenile Slender Maori Wrasse, with its distinct colours, or a curious Blacklined Filefish peeking out. It’s a macro photographer’s dream, but also just a beautiful place to simply hover and absorb the colour. The currents here are usually mild, making it perfect for newer divers or anyone wanting a chill dive to decompress. If you time it right, mid-morning light really makes those soft corals pop.
