Takat Saebus - Bali

Hardwood Island Reef. It’s a bit of a local secret, one we’re happy to spill. We love it for its sheer unexpectedness in Nova Scotia’s cool Atlantic waters. Drop down and you’re immediately enveloped by the kelp forest, light filtering green and gold through the fronds. Keep an eye out for the big Atlantic cod lurking in the shadows, and we’ve had some cracking encounters with banded killifish darting amongst the Irish moss. The Scarlet Sea Anemones add a splash of colour you might not expect up here. It’s not about huge pelagics, though we did spot a basking shark once, which had us grinning for days. This site is for divers who appreciate the subtle beauty of a temperate reef, the quiet hum of the ecosystem. Dive it on a calm day; the visibility really makes a difference. You’ll be treated to a surprisingly busy reef, perfect for a long, relaxed exploration.
