With 153+ marine species recorded in the area - including sea turtles, sperm whales, whale sharks and pufferfish - Big Seamount offers some of Perhentian Islands's richest pinnacle diving. Water ranges 28-31°C, warmest May, June, August.
Big Seamount is one of Perhentian's deeper sites, often attracting pelagic action away from the main islands. We've seen reef sharks patrolling the edges here, along with schools of barracuda and fusiliers. It's a spot best suited for divers comfortable with open water and a bit of current, looking for larger marine encounters rather than intricate coral formations. Visibility can be hit or miss, but on a good day, it offers a distinct contrast to the shallower reefs.
