MEISUN G7 - Redang Island

Redang’s Meisun G7 isn’t a deep dive, sitting at a comfortable 11 metres, but it offers a genuinely engaging experience for anyone keen on wreck exploration. This isn't some pristine, intact vessel; it’s a barge that met its end, and time has taken its toll, leaving a scattered collection of twisted metal and collapsed sections. We love how the wreck is really coming apart, creating these little swim-throughs and dark pockets that always seem to be hiding something. You’ll spend your time navigating around massive I-beams, some completely detached, others still precariously connected. Look closely, and you’ll spot resident lionfish tucked into crevices, often with a school of snapper swirling just beyond. It’s a great spot for macro too; we always find nudibranchs clinging to the rust-coloured metal. Given its shallow depth, you get plenty of bottom time, making it perfect for photographers or those just wanting to soak it all in. If you're into poking around old structures and seeing how the sea reclaims things, Meisun G7 is a solid pick. We’d suggest going in the late morning, when the sun is high, really illuminating the scattered pieces of the wreck.
