HULU MAS (?TIRTA MAS) - Southern Islands

Alright, let's talk about the Hulu Mas. We know, Singapore isn't often on the wreck diver's radar, but this one's a real treat if you catch it right. Sunk in 2003, this 105-meter carrier lies upright on the seabed at 32 meters, making it a proper deep dive. The sheer scale of the Hulu Mas is what really grabs you. We love dropping down onto the huge deck, seeing the structure stretch out into the murk. Visibility here can be tricky, swinging from a decent 10 meters to a soupy 3, so pick your day carefully, ideally on a neap tide. But even in lower vis, the wreck’s presence is commanding. Look for schooling fusiliers, often so dense they form shimmering curtains around the mast and bridge. Inside, if you're qualified and careful, the cargo holds offer some cool penetration, just remember it’s silty. We've seen some impressive groupers lurking in the shadows and nudibranchs grazing on the encrusted railings. It's a challenging dive, best suited for experienced wreck divers comfortable with depth and variable conditions.
