LISA II - Southern Islands

LISA II is our pick for a deeper wreck dive when you’re exploring Singapore’s Southern Islands. Built in 1963, this 83-meter ferry went down after a fire in 1995, and she rests upright at a max depth of 30m. We love the way she sits, a dark silhouette on the seabed, her mast reaching up into the lighter blue. Dropping down, you’ll start to pick out the details of her superstructure, often shrouded in a hazy green. The visibility here can be tricky, sometimes no more than a few metres, which just adds to the atmosphere. We’ve found the stern section particularly interesting, with some penetration possible for experienced divers – always check your gauges and plan your exit. Look out for marble whiprays gliding past, and the resident schools of batfish that swirl around the bow. On a good day, with a bit more light, the sheer scale of LISA II is impressive, a testament to her working life now reclaimed by the currents and the creatures of the deep. It’s a dive that rewards patience and a good torch, perfect for those who appreciate the quiet history beneath the waves.
