ORCHID GARDEN - Southern Islands

Orchid Garden is one of our favourite wreck dives in Singapore, and honestly, one of the more underrated spots. This isn't your pristine, upright wreck, but a deliberately beached motor vessel from 1955 that finally gave up the ghost in 1978. It's now heavily broken up, the hull split and twisted, but that's precisely what makes it so interesting. You'll spend most of your time exploring the scattered sections of superstructure and cargo holds, each crevice now home to something new. We love finning slowly through the wreckage, peering into the dark spaces where moray eels often lurk, just their heads visible in the gloom. Lionfish are always a given, swaying gently with the surge. Keep an eye out for nudibranchs, especially around the older growth of soft corals that have colonised the metal. Visibility here can be a bit hit or miss, so we’d suggest going on a slack tide and aiming for a sunny day to get the best light penetration onto the wreck. It’s a dive that rewards slow exploration rather than rapid transit, perfect for photographers or anyone who enjoys the quiet hunt for macro life.
