The Dive Shop - Koh Tao
Okay, first off, the website link you’ve given us for “The Dive Shop” points to a place in Cambodia. On Koh Tao, The Dive Shop is a well-known PADI outfit, and we’re going to assume we’re talking about the Koh Tao one here. If it’s the Cambodian one you’re after, just let us know and we’ll rewrite it. Right, Koh Tao's The Dive Shop – these guys are a solid choice if you're looking for a really hands-on, well-structured PADI course experience. We’ve sent a fair few friends their way for Open Water and Advanced, and the feedback is always positive: focused instruction without being overly rigid. If you appreciate a calm, methodical approach to learning in what can sometimes be a pretty bustling dive scene, this is your spot. We love that they don't try to cram too many people onto a boat. It means you get proper space to gear up, and your instructor isn't juggling five different skill levels. On our last trip out with them to Chumphon Pinnacle, we had a brilliant dive where we just drifted along a wall thick with barracuda, watching them shimmer in the light shafts. The instructors know the sites inside out, which means you’re not just following the group; they’re pointing out the tiny nudibranchs tucked into the coral and making sure you get a good look at the reef sharks cruising the deeper sections. Our favourite touch? They’re great at getting you to practice buoyancy *before* you're trying to photograph a turtle. It makes a real difference to the whole experience.
